Shower trays come in all different shapes and sizes, and are made out of different materials. The most common types of shower trays are made from acrylic, stone resin, ceramic and fiberglass. Unfortunately all of these materials are prone to damage caused by impacts, strong chemicals, and even too much pressure if they have not been installed correctly. When this happens it's important to have the damage repaired straight away before it gets worse. I can repair all types of damage to shower trays in a few hours which saves you a lot of time and money over replacing it. All of my repairs are guaranteed for 12 months unless otherwise stated. If your shower tray needs to be resurfaced I can do this too, the procedure takes a bit longer than a chip repair and you'll have a brand new looking shower tray at the end of it which you can use again the next day. All of my repairs are guaranteed for 12 months and I'm fully insured. This is the most environmentally friendly option too as you won't have to scrap your old shower tray.
You may not have noticed but there are many different shades of white when it comes to shower trays. Different manufacturers use different materials to produce their shower trays and even things like how much exposure to sunlight and chemicals, etc, can affect the shade of white it is. One of the most important parts of doing a shower tray repair is to colour match the new paint for the repair exactly to your existing shower tray. I do this using special tinters on the day to make up a white colour that matches from scratch. I have perfected this skill after many years of experience so I'm able to get a repair that blends in seamlessly. Sometimes the location of the chip in the shower tray makes it very difficult to get an invisible repair, which is why we never say your repair will be invisible, but you shouldn't be able to see it with normal usage.
I only use the highest quality professional grade materials available to ensure that all of my repairs are lasting. I have seen DIY Repair kits growing in popularity as people try to save money, but ultimately the DIY repair won't last as the materials they come with are very basic quality so the repair will fall off due to not being adhered properly or the colour won't be matched properly. I have seen reviews where DIY kit repairs have started to yellow after just a few months. That's the last thing you need after spending the time and money doing it. The professional materials I use ensure that the repair will last and won't discolour. I also offer a 12 month guarantee for your peace of mind.
The first step for a shower tray repair is to apply a special bonder to the area and then fill in the damage. I will then apply another layer of bonder to it. Then I will colour match a paint to your shower tray by eye and spray this over the repair using a fine spray gun. This ensures the repair blends in as seamlessly as possible.
The most important thing to ascertain with a shower tray repair is how bad the damage is. If it is just localised surface damage like a few chips or scratches then a spot repair is the best way forward. If the whole surface has been damaged or there are more than just a few chips we would ideally resurface your shower tray to make sure it looks new again. Where the damage has actually broken through the shower tray, or is structural, we'll have to decide if the shower tray can be reinforced from underneath before repairing it - if this is the case we most likely won't recommend attempting to repair it as the repair may not last.
1. I will assess the damage to your shower tray from pictures you send in and provide you with a free quote.
2. When I arrive to do the repair I will first clean the area and apply a layer of bonder to the area to prep for the filler. 3. I'll then fill in any holes, chips, cracks, etc. 4. The next step is to apply another layer of bonder to the area. 5. Next I'll colour match the paint to your shower tray and spray it on with a fine spray gun. 6. Now you need to leave the shower tray for 24 hours before using it so the repair can fully harden and cure. 7. Use your shower tray again as normal! A brand new looking shower tray without any of the hassle of replacing it.Most of our shower tray repairs will take about 1-2 hours. If the damage is more extensive or the shower tray needs to be resurfaced this will take longer, but I always aim to have all the damage repaired in just one visit. Once I complete the repair you'll be able to use your shower tray again 24 hours later. This process is much faster than ripping out your old shower tray to replace it, and it is much cheaper too!
The standard I always aim for is a shower tray repair that is not noticeable with normal usage. With shower trays it can be easy to see marks and imperfections on them, especially if you have a light or window right next to the shower tray. I could never promise that your repair will be 100% invisible and I would be wary of companies that do promise this.
I only use the best quality professional grade materials. I never use cheaper materials to try and save money. You won't achieve a high standard of repair using cheap materials. I have many very happy customers who continue to recommend me because they were so happy with their repairs.
If you think you can do your repair with a DIY Repair Kit instead then you're welcome to try this out. I will be happy to help when that repair fails. The materials these kits provide are no comparison to the materials I use and my expertise in colour matching. I've seen reviews for these DIY Repair Kits saying the repairs fell off or discoloured after just a few months. That won't happen with my repairs. If the DIY Repair Kits worked so well then I wouldn't be in business anymore!
How long will a shower tray repair last?
A shower tray repair should last for as long as the tray itself. I don't put a time limit on our repairs but I do provide a 12 month warranty with all of our repairs. Sometimes the damage will be very extensive or structural and in this case we will usually recommend getting the shower tray replaced instead of repaired. If you still want to have it repaired I can do this but I won't offer a guarantee in this instance.
